Managing Soil: Maximizing Profit Meeting in Wagner, SD

Where: Wagner Movie Theater Banquet Room (218 Main Ave. S. Wagner, SD 57380)

Time: 9:45 AM - 3:30 PM

Details: The Managing Soil: Maximizing Profit Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 9:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Wagner Movie Theater Banquet Room (218 Main Ave. S. Wagner, SD 57380). The Southeast Research Farm Annual Business Meeting will also occur from 12:45-1:00 p.m.

Educational presentations will focus on improving soil health through reduced tillage, diverse rotations, managing for better soil microbiology and incorporating cattle grazing annual forages and cover crops. Continuing education credits for certified crop advisors will be available.

December 10-11

SD Cattlemen's Association Convention & Trade Show in Pierre, SD

Where: Ramkota Hotel & Convention Center, Pierre, SD

Details: The 2024 South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association Convention & Trade Show will be held on December 10th and 11th at the Ramkota Hotel & Convention Center in Pierre, SD. This event brings together producers and beef industry stakeholders for educational opportunities, policy discussions, and a cattle-focused trade show.

The first day of the 2024 event includes the NEW Cattlemen’s Land & Legacy event, the 2024 Leopold Conservation Award presentation and Ranching for Profit Seminar. Following the Best of Beef Happy Hour, the team roping contest and President’s Auction are open to the public and fun for the whole family!

Day two will feature a CattleFax report, the keynote address, seminars, membership meetings and networking opportunities with fellow cattlemen and women, local, state, and national leaders and beef industry partners. The event comes to a close with the Cattlemen’s Banquet and the introduction of Class I of the SDCA Leadership Academy.

South Dakota Private Lands Prescribed Fire Forum in Chamberlain, SD

Where: Cedar Shore Resort, Chamberlain, SD

Details: A one-day event to discuss the who, what, where, and how of private lands prescribed fire being conducted in South Dakota. This forum is designed for landowners, fire professionals, educators, and service providers to come together and explore opportunities, challenges and resources related to prescribed fire.

  • SD private lands prescribed fire laws and regulations

  • Liabilities and other concerns

  • Landowner training opportunities

  • Agency support, programs, and partnerships

  • Landowner-led prescribed burn associations

  • Equipment, service providers, and education resources
