Perkins County Conservation District (PCCD) is seeking a dedicated and organized District Manager to oversee operations, support conservation programs, and engage with landowners. This is a flexible 32 to 40-hour per week position with benefits, including health insurance and South Dakota Retirement.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Knowledge of QuickBooks, Publisher, Word, and Excel preferred
Valid driver’s license required (background check needed for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) system access)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide customer service for PCCD and NRCS, handling calls and walk-ins
Manage office duties (mail, filing, payroll, newsletters, supplies, advertising, and meeting prep)
Research and prepare grants to support conservation efforts
Serve as Treasurer for the District Board, handling financial reports and transactions
Coordinate district events (workshops, tours, conferences, fairs, school programs)
Maintain social media and website, and distribute newsletters
Represent PCCD at meetings, conferences, and conservation hearings
Oversee the district tree program, including ordering, invoicing, hiring, and site planning
Assist NRCS with tree planning and conservation projects
Maintain communication with partner agencies for collaboration opportunities
Physical Demands & Seasonal Work Environment:
Lift/move 50-75 lbs frequently
Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including cold storage (32°F)
Walk on rough terrain, bend, lift, and operate equipment during tree planting
